Welcome to The Nourished Athlete! I'm Julia Gats, a Registered Dietitian and certified Irish Dance instructor. With history as both a competitive and professional athlete, I learned the importance of fueling myself for peak performance. My passion for nutrition grew during my time touring with Riverdance, where I saw firsthand how diet can transform well-being and athletic performance. This inspired me to specialize in nutrition for peak performance.
I offer personalized one-on-one online counseling for athletes of all levels, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to improve their health through diet. My background as a professional dancer and instructor allows me to provide empathetic and relatable guidance. With experience in sports, pediatric, and oncology nutrition, I bring specialized support to help clients achieve better health, endurance, and strength.
I attended Gonzaga University before a pause to tour with Riverdance. I then completed my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at Seattle Pacific University, followed by a Master of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Washington State University.
As a Registered Dietitian and ACSM certified Exercise Physiologist, my education and experience have given me a comprehensive understanding of nutrition and fitness. In addition to my work with athletes, I work clinically with patients ages newborn through 18 at a highly regarded children’s hospital in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and pediatric oncology.
As an accredited professional, I bring a wealth of expertise and recognized qualifications. Becoming a Registered Dietitian requires a Masters degree, 1,200 supervised practice hours, passing a national credentialing exam, and continuing education to stay current on research-based practices. This accreditation ensures that I adhere to the highest standards of professional practice, providing evidence-based nutrition guidance. My commitment to continuous learning and professional integrity sets The Nourished Athlete apart, ensuring that clients receive top-quality care based on the latest research and best practices in the field.
